Steve Jones presides over Allied Universal companies and their respective divisions. Jones began his career with Universal Protection Service in 1996 after holding executive level and management positions within two Fortune 500 companies. Under Jones’ leadership, the company has grown from $12 million in revenue to more than $5 billion and has acquired more than 50 companies from 2011 to 2016. Jones’ vision is to be the leader in integrated security solutions, offering clients manned guarding and systems technology to create the best possible security solution.
Jones’ honors include being named the top job creator for two consecutive years by Inc. Magazine, winning the Vistage International Leadership Award, and earning the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Additionally, he is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and serves on various boards, including that of Allied Universal.
Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and an MBA from the University of Redlands.
Chairman of the Board
Bill Whitmore is the Chairman of the Board for Allied Universal. Whitmore’s strategic direction has positioned the company for continued growth, and he has lead the industry on critical issues such as training standards, national background checks, military hiring and workplace violence. To share best practices for workplace violence prevention, Whitmore authored a book titled Potential: Workplace Violence Prevention and Your Organizational Success. Whitmore previously served as CEO and Chairman of AlliedBarton Security Services. He began his career in law enforcement before entering the security industry.
Whitmore served on the Private Sector Senior Advisory Committee of the Homeland Security Advisory Council. He was appointed to the Committee in June 2004 by then Secretary Tom Ridge and served until 2009. He is a member and former chair of the Philadelphia University Board of Trustees, and serves on the boards of the Philadelphia Police Foundation and the Ed Snyder Youth Hockey Foundation. He is the recipient of the Edgar B. Watson award from the National Association of Security Companies; and the International Security Management Association's President's Award.

Michael J. Martin
Allied Universal Security Services
Mike Martin joined Allied Universal in 2016. Prior to that, Martin was Vice President Regional Manager for Guardsmark. In his 23 years there, he rose up the ranks from uniformed Security Professional to Learning & Development Specialist, followed by Operations Manager and Vice President of Midwest Division. Martin oversees operations, business development, client relations, fiscal planning and strategic analysis, while supporting more than 5,000-plus employees throughout the Midwest and Canada. Previous to Guardsmark, he worked internationally in the defense industry as a cyber analyst.
Martin is a member of ASIS International, Michigan Council of Private Investigators, and supports numerous charitable causes in Detroit. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Martin was an Overseas Scholar at Michigan State University and attended Cambridge University and the Bramshill Police Staff College in England, where he interned with the Staffordshire Police force.
